Become a Resident Artist 

RESIDENCY PROGRAM

Wildfire Ceramic Studio would like to invite emerging ceramic artists interested in becoming a resident artist to apply! WCS currently has one studio space available with both short-term and long-term possibilities. Preference will be given to long-term applicants.

​

WCS believes that emerging artists benefit from having a dedicated space and community to expand their practice.  With this belief, WCS strives to create a self-directed environment of creative enrichment, while contributing to the greater art community in Missoula. 

​

Residents will be expected to be a positive and engaged member of the studio as well has an active member in the art community in Missoula. Residents have the potential opportunity to teach 1-2 WCS High School After School Art Classes, jury exhibitions, a solo exhibition, and participate in 1st Friday events. Resident responsibilities include at least 20hrs a week of studio time, and 5hr of work for the studio a week.

Residents are provided 24hr access with a studio space that includes a worktable, shelving, and a wheel upon request. 

​

Fees: residents are responsible for housing, studio space, materials, and kiln firings.

​ENTRY GUIDELINES 

Applicants must submit a 300-word letter of intent for their time at WCS that includes preferred duration and dates, 300-word bio and artist statement, contacts of 3 professional recommendations with name, affiliation, and email, CV, and a portfolio of 10 artworks. Please state if you are interested in a full ($280) or half studio ($190), preferences are not guarenteed.

Application fee of 10$ 

​

Entry does not guarantee acceptance. All works must be original and completed within the last three years.

 

$10 non-refundable entry fee. Follow the payment link to pay with credit card or PayPal account. Ensure that the name on your application matches the name on your entry fee payment.

 

Applicant requirements (except for images) must be in one PDF document formatted as jdoe_app, each on a separate page, in the order of:

Letter of intent, artist statement, bio, professional references, CV

Digital images must in .jpeg format and must be 300dpi and longest length of 1000 pixels. File name format: jdoe1, jdoe2, jdoe3. 

All applications that do not follow this format will be disregarded and not juried and application fee will not be refunded.  Please contact wildfireceramicstudio@gmail.com for more information.
